ARTIST BIO

Sergio Hernandez – Mixed Media Artist

Born and raised in Abilene, Texas, Sergio Hernandez is a mixed media artist who fuses realism with geometric abstraction. His artistic process is a continuous conversation between control and chaos, where discipline meets creative freedom. Guided by intuition, he channels energy into each piece, crafting visuals that spark an immediate emotional connection.

For Sergio, his art is a balance of practice and play—a daily discipline that fuels both growth and creative freedom. Every piece he creates is a reflection of this pursuit, a space where precision meets impulse, and control gives way to discovery.

Sergio studied Graphic Design and Fine Art at Abilene Christian University before leaving in 2017 to fully commit to his artistic journey—drawing every single day. This relentless practice has shaped his distinct visual language, which blends detailed realism with bold, abstract elements to produce work that is both visceral and dynamic.

In addition to his personal practice, Sergio fosters artistic community through Dirty Drawers, a figure drawing session he hosts at The Center for Contemporary Arts in downtown Abilene. His passion for art is rooted in core philosophies: honesty, fearlessness, and curiosity—all of which fuel his pursuit of raw, visual energy in every piece he creates.
